For those of you who like to read my blog, you’ll know I like to take answer these “Questions for atheists” lists that believers publish. They seem to think that these questions are clever, insightful and sure to stump any atheist. More often than not they are actually the opposite. Inane questions that are filled to the brim with presuppositions, lack of current scientific understanding and extremely leading are the norm. Nothing that would stump most atheists because we’ve thought about all these things and more often that not, that’s why we’re atheists.
The following list apparently appears in Dr. Norman Geisler’s book “Conversational Evangelism” and if it’s any indication of the quality of rest of the book, my advice would be to steer clear of this title. So without further ado, here is the list of “clever” questions for atheists!
The linked article by John Rennie in Scientific American was originally published in 2002 but it hasn’t lost any of its actuality nor has it been refuted by creationists. Creationist arguments also haven’t changed significantly since then, demonstrating how they are simply unable to formulate an opposing theory to evolution. I’ve also written some answers to creationists nonsense earlier on this blog and have also explored if creationism is plausible.

Back in April, I posted an article in response to a video series released by the “Restored Church of God“, which supposedly offers proof of God’s existence. I was seriously underwhelmed with the poor quality and (deliberate) misinformation presented in the first episode of that series. So much so that I decided not to watch the rest of it. I advise other people to stay well away from this series. Instead, you can enjoy it in an alternative way, watching as Aron Ra demolishes David C. Pack.

An interesting piece in The Guardian by Dr. David Hone, about why creationists are out of time with history and science. It explores one example of the dishonesty that creationists are forced to employ in order to make creation “fit” with their view of reality: a world created by God.
Creationists fail to appreciate the history of science as well as science itself

I stumbled upon an absolute gem of a video series on YouTube. It is called “Does God Exist? – Many absolute proofs!” and is a production of the Restored Church of God. The series is presented by a man called David C. Pack, who is Pastor General at the Restored Church of God. Does this series contain the many absolute proofs of the existence of God? Prepare to be seriously underwhelmed.

I’ve mentioned Ken Ham before here on the blog. He is
chief loony president at “Answers in Genesis”, his fundamentalist Christian ministry. Like any good Christian fundamentalist, he believes in a young Earth and all things created by God as described in the first book of the Bible: Genesis. Most Christians have long abandoned a literal interpretation of Genesis, but not mr. Ham and his associates. It should come as no surprise then that mr. Ham doesn’t believe in evolution and frequently speaks out against it. His latest eructation concerning evolution was on Twitter today, about asking “evolutionists” the question “were you there?”

Creationists argue that mankind was created in God’s image, because the Bible says so in Genesis 1:27: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. They take this to mean that we humans resemble God.
