I made the tweet below as a kind of joke. I liked the contrast between the words “fallen” and “risen”. In reply I got a tweet from the account of “Inspired Walk“, a Christian apologetics site which contained a link to a video entitled “Why do atheists lie to themselves?”.  I have commented on their stuff before and found it to be thoroughly unconvincing.

So let’s have a look at “Why do atheists lie to themselves?” and then see if there’s anything to it, shall we?

Those of you who read this blog, are aware that I sometimes like to answer posts called “questions for atheists” or words to that effect. Just explore this tag to see a collection of those posts. Usually, these kinds of posts are supposed to ask some hard-hitting questions that leave atheists stumped and/or make them think that there may be something to faith after all. In reality though, these questions are almost always inane in nature, make most atheists roll their eyes and are often based on wrong (deliberate or not) interpretation of what atheism is.

One of the things I like to do on this blog, is pick apart articles written by apologists, claiming to have evidence for their beliefs or who claim to have questions designed to show atheists like me where we’re wrong or how atheism is somehow an erroneous position. Usually, these articles are just a rehash of claims that have been repeated ad nauseam with little new to offer. This post is in response to an article entitled “5 things atheists can’t prove” on the Inspired Walk website. As expected, it is the same kind of sad affair.
