It’s been a while in the works but I’ve finally changed some things around here. First of all, this blog has been moved to entirely new site. It is no longer in a co-location hosting centre but instead now lives on its own small server in my home. I’ve added an SSL certificate for encryption and added security.

To celebrate, the blog has also had a make-over with a fresh theme (which isn’t completely finished yet). I’ll be making further tweaks and customizations over the next few weeks but for now, I’m pretty happy with the move.

I am Charlie

Earlier today, gunmen entered the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, gunning down 12 people in cold blood. The reason: the magazine published cartoons of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. This is why it is necessary to speak out against fanatical religious beliefs and to defend the right to free speech. That’s what Charlie Hebdo stood for. That’s what 12 people died for today.

This is the third article of an intended series during which I will explain why I am an atheist. The first part can be found here, the second part is here. Much of this is based on my own, personal thoughts and experiences with religion, mostly Christianity, because that is the religion I have been exposed to the most. While this is not intended as an attack on people of faith, you may wish to stop reading if you can’t handle opposing viewpoints very well or if you don’t like your faith challenged. This third article will look at how prayer fails to make good on things promised.
